Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospitals was founded by Late Dr. J. Agarwal (recipient of the Padma Bhushan award) and his wife Dr. T. Agarwal, in the southern metropolis of Madras, India, in 1957.
The hospital became a prominent landmark on the city map in 1976, for its eye-shaped building that got a mention on Ripley’s believe it or not! They have been able to roll out quite a few notable innovations in eye treatment time to time. Glued IOL, PDEK & SIGS are few of their many innovations that have been adopted and practiced by ophthalmologists across the globe. The institution is now run by the second and third generation of eye doctors from within the founders’ family. What started as a single hospital 60 years ago, has now transformed into over 60 hospitals spread across 14 countries and is growing fast! Yes, with regard to eye care, they are truly global.
